Introduction
The following is an attempt at looking at the health, both psychological and physiological, of video games on people. Some people say that video games are unhealthy and addictive. Some people deny that video game addiction even exists. This is a highly debated and controversial topic. The subtopics that will be covered here include ethical impacts and ethical obligations of video game authors as well as mental and physical health impacts and examples in literature.
A notable problem with this particular topic is the inherent lack of scientific evidence. This leads to a great deal of the evidence presented to be a matter of opinion of credible sources. Similarly to other addictions, such as Internet Addiction, this subject is one that certainly deserves more scientific study.
Is there actually a thing as game addiction?
Is it just a behavioral addiction?
This document does not attempt to answer those questions. It only tries to present various points of view. People need to come up with their own opinions on the topic.
